- English Conversation Class: Mondays - 11.00am - 1 hour
A weekly conversation class for students wishing to improve spoken English.
Academic Writing and English Grammar class.
Once a week for 1 hour - Mondays 5.00pm or Tuesdays at 2.00pm - Speakers Corner
- Enable students studying the English Language Intensive Course for Overseas Students (ELICOS) to practise speaking English. Any students wishing to have a conversation can participate. Contact DOLIE.

Offered by the Department of Languages and Intercultural Education (DOLIE)
These are credit bearing units - 25 credit points each.
Can be used as elective units for undergraduate degree courses.
Receive individual consultation with feedback on how to improve your work by writing longer, better organised and more accurate texts, taking notes, giving presentations, getting involved in tutorial discussions and by improving English language skills generally.

Offered by the Department of Media and Information -Faculty of Media, Society and CultureEach unit is worth 25 credit points. Two hours per week.

Tips on Improving Your English
- Move in with English speaking housemates
- Try to only speak English at home and on campus
- Read local newspapers and magazines - gain vocabulary and confidence to discuss current topics and news with locals.
- Watch TV and Australian movies to become familiar with the sound of "Australian" English and local slang
- Listen to the local radio station
- Find an English speaking "study - buddy"
- Request to work on group assignments with English speaking students
- Request an English speaking mentor - eg: e-Mate or older student in your School.
- Become involved in campus activities - join the Student Guild
- Join a social or sports club which is out of your usual comfort zone
- Become a Volunteer - Join Curtin Volunteers!, a religious group, or community group, where you will meet and mix with English speaking Australians.
- Find a part time job in the community. Investigate Curtin Career Centre
- Look for job vacancies. Check out the Student Guild Employment Board at the Bentley campus, outside Building 106F.
